California Apricots: the Lost Orchards of Silicon Valley, brought me, in 2013, to Stanford University where I spoke at the Stanford Bookstore. My friend Michelle Wahl, widow of LAHS grad Vic Wahl, is a nurse at Stanford Medical Center and stopped by to stay "hi."
We have a new schedule of events and book talks for CALIFORNIA APRICOTS: 2014. The book has been out for nine months and is headed toward its fourth printing! I thought things would be slowing down about now, but that hasn't happened.
Just click "Read More" and scroll down for the upcoming events:
We've had to cancel the talks at the Petaluma Library and the Santa Rosa Library. Sorry about that! We'll reschedule if possible.
Saturday, March 22: 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saratoga Blossom Festival, 13650 Saratoga Ave, Saratoga, CA 95070. This is their annual event with volunteers in historic costumes, locals showing vintage crafts, and regional authors signing books. It all takes place adjacent to Saratoga's Library and Heritage Orchard, which should be in beautiful bloom! Stop by and say hello: I'll be chatting with guests and signing books.
Wednesday, April 16: Noon event for SIRS. Location is, I.F.E.S. Hall, 432 Stierlin Road, Mountain View, California, 94043. I'll have more information on this as we get closer to the date.
Monday, June 9: 7:30 p.m. Sunnyvale Historical Society, Orchard Heritage Park Museum, 570 E Remington Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94087. Book talk and book signing. The museum sits next to Orchard Heritage Park, which is a lovely 10-acre apricot orchard. The 'cots should be on the trees in June, almost ripe for the harvest. Should be a great night! I told you this would happen.
Looks like a great book will see if I can find a copy!! Have been following Californias issue with farming/water issues! Up in canada in the west we spill huge amounts of water into the sea,we waste also as homeowners as we have few meters on the taps but thats slowly changing as our Population grows.
